Airbrush Makeup Vs. Traditional Makeup

One of the most common makeup questions that comes up with our Faces of Virtue clients here in New Orleans is the one around airbrush makeup. If you’ve never had airbrush makeup done, you might be wondering what the real benefits are of airbrush makeup are. Here, a few of the most commonly asked questions surrounding airbrush makeup. Q: What’s the difference between airbrush and traditional?

The application process of airbrush makeup is through a small handheld device. As the machine gently applies the product onto your face, this buildable formula not only hydrates your skin but also nourish your skin creating a more youthful appearance. It is a very controlled application process. Blush, highlight and contour can be added via airbrush to create dimension in the makeup application.  Traditional makeup is applied by hand tools such as a brush, beauty blender, or sponge and stamped into the skin for an even finish. The coverage of traditional makeup can range from a natural dewy glow to a matte full coverage based on the formula. Traditional products such as powder, bronzer, and blush can be used in conjunction with a traditional foundation. 

Q: Will airbrush makeup run or streak if I cry?

Faces of Virtue uses airbrush foundations which are transfer-resistant, long-wearing, natural looking, and buildable.  The airbrush formula we use will not run or streak unlike traditional makeup. 

Q: I sweat a lot, is airbrush makeup sweat proof?

This particular formula will not stop you from sweating. However, your makeup will not move. We advise our clients to pat their face with a small cloth as oppose to wiping your face.

Q: I have sensitive skin; will airbrush makeup irritate my skin?

The product is non-comedogenic, meaning it will not clog your pores or irritate your skin. The makeup is also hypoallergenic of airbrush foundation will not irritate 

Q: Will it cover my dark spots?

Yes, airbrush makeup can cover dark spots or hyperpigmentation. We can use an airbrush color corrector or concealer, if necessary. Depending how severe it is, the application of the foundation can be applied with a sponge to conceal problem area prior to applying it with the machine.

Q: I have acne scars, will airbrush makeup work?

Yes, airbrush makeup can cover acne scars creating a natural appearance. Depending on the severity of the scarring, several applications will be needed to create an even coverage. 

Q: Is airbrush good for mature skin?

Airbrush makeup can be used for mature skin.  The makeup will not settle into deep lines nor crease. Utilizing a S/B formula will increase longevity as well as create a dewy, youthful appearance.
